Sustainable Skills Training Hub – Canberra Institute of Technology

The Sustainable Skills Training Hub has been designed as a complete learning tool for passive and active environmental systems and technology (a living building).  It has a number of energy generating systems such as: PV solar, Tri-generation, ceramic fuel cells and wind that make the building carbon positive (it produces more energy than it uses).  It is also water neutral and has a large amount of recycled materials such as; brickwork, carpet tiles, timber, steel reinforcement, glass acoustic tiles, polyester insulation, rubber and cork flooring.

The Training Hub has a number of ventilation and heating strategies, different types of lighting, different types of low water use fittings.  All items are exposed and legible for full accessibility and legibility by students and teachers.

It has received a 6 Star Green Star rating for Education Design V1.S
